SU urges clerics to support the needy

Wed, 07/04/2012 - 19:43 The event attracted many notable men of God at Villa Park Hotels and Suite Ltd, Industrial Estate, Amuwo Odofin, Lagos. Some of them included the Area Chairman, Pastor Kola Fasoranti; Pastor Osondu Anyalechi, Pastor Amechi Udeze, both senior pastors, Evangel Pentecostal Church; Mr. and Mrs. Femi Adesina and Elder Francis Onwuchekwa.
One of the key issues discussed was the need for believers to ensure that the business of God prospers. They were encouraged to support the underprivileged youths. The Traveling Secretary, Gbenga Ige, gave a breakdown of the money spent and the ones needed to reach out to numerous youths in the environs. He expressed hope that SU would be able to raise N5.5M in the next one year if the set goals must be met. In addition they were asked to watch some clips on the plight of the youths.
In his exhortation entitled, I have A Command To Bless, Pastor Dimgba Igwe, the Former Deputy Managing Director of The Sun Publishing Limited, stressed the need for believers to support Scripture Union for the advancement of the gospel. Pastor Igwe, who was the chairman on the occasion, said it was an opportunity for Christians to invest in God’s work through the SU, which according to him, is a fertile ground.
“The Bible tells us that we are together in God’s vineyard. God is a Spirit and Spirit cannot wear coat, distribute scripture or write but He does that through you. As you partner with SU, you are partnering with God. SU is just a vehicle. If you do this, you will find out that in your private business, God will teach you how to make wealth. In the ministry of the kingdom, when it is toughest, that is when the Lord requires most of your love. That is the best time to partner with the Lord.”
Also, Pastor Tunde Fowe of Family Impact Ministry stated five important things to observe as Christians even as the Macedonian church did as regards giving. Fowe said, “They gave generously, regardless of circumstances, without coercion, as a privilege and as service to God.”
Chairperson, SU, Lagos Area, Mrs. Ifeanyichukwu Anyalechi, who is also the Procurement Manager of The Sun Publishing Ltd, said the event was meant to attract Christians who were passionate about reaching out to the young generation for Christ and for building a better society.
