BREAKING: Nigeria inflation climbs to 26.72% 16th October 2023 Inflation rate Inflation rate Nigeria’s inflation rate has climbed to 26.72 per cent, marking a 0.92 per cent increase from the previous month’s 25.80 per cent. The National Bureau of Statistics disclosed this on Monday via its latest Consumer Price Index report for September 2023. It was shared on the X handle of NBS. The upsurge in inflation is mainly linked to the removal of petrol subsidies and the devaluation of the official exchange rate, both exerting substantial impacts on consumer prices. It said, “September 2023, the headline inflation rate increased to 26.72 per cent relative to the August 2023 headline inflation rate which was 25.80 per cent. Isong, who also doubles as the director of the festival, stated that it was aimed at positioning the movie industry for the global audience. She said, “Too often, the rich tapestry of African culture is underrepresented or misrepresented in mainstream media and global narratives. This realisation was the spark for Affricuff. With the theme, ‘Thinking Local, Going Global’, we want to discuss how we, as filmmakers, can tell our rich local stories in a way that is appealing to a global audience , without losing our authenticity. This theme also signifies our commitment to bridging the gap between the global audience and African storytellers. “We believe that by amplifying the voices of African filmmakers and showcasing their extraordinary talents, we can foster a deeper appreciation for African culture, and promote a more accurate and nuanced understanding of this diverse continent. Affricuff is not just a film festival; it is a cultural exchange, and celebration of unity in diversity.”

1,000 Ogun residents benefit from free eye care 8th October 2023 No fewer than 1,000 residents of Ogun State have benefited from the free eye treatment and surgery held by the Riders and Owners of Motorcycle Organisation in collaboration with Lions Club in the state. Speaking at the programme in Abeokuta recently, the Chairman of ROMO, Alhaji Abdulfatai Sotayo, said the need to complement the health programmes of Governor Dapo Abiodun underscored the partnership with the club.
