3 die in Ibadan auto crash


TWO young men and a lady have lost their lives in an auto accident which occurred in the early hours of Saturday along Moshood Abiola Way (formerly Ring Road), Ibadan, Oyo State.
Two cars, a red colour Toyota Camry with registration number GJ 639 LSR and a black BMW bearing a customised number plate marked ‘One Love’, were involved in the crash which occurred at Oni Memorial Children’s Hospital area at about 12.30a.m.
According to eyewitnesses, the driver of the car conveying three young men and a lady was said to have lost control while on high speed, veering off the road and climbing the median of the dual carriageway before hitting the other car.
Two of the four young men whose names were given as Abubakar Salisu and Johnson Ogundayo, and the lady named Bisola Adeoye, reportedly died instantly while the driver of both cars, said to have been critically injured, were rushed to the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, immediately they were rescued.
The driver of the BMW car, whose name was given as Kayode Owolabi, was said to be in coma as of the time of rescue while the name of the driver of the Toyota Camry car, also in coma, could not be ascertained.
Unconfirmed reports also had it that the lady among them was already married with a child.
A source from UCH confirmed that the two accident victims were brought to the hospital, saying that they were out of coma and still undergoing medical treatment.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayodele Lanade also confirmed the story, saying that the driver of the Camry car was reported to have caused the auto crash.
